Question and answer is a bad 2fa imo and it's only used when changing small stuff like skin or username, not while logging in the launcher I'm not an expert but usually it comes to bad passwords and lacking a good 2fa system. Since then, I've used a password manager to randomise my passwords. I believe this happened to me when my account was hacked not so long ago, most likely because the password was old and re-used. My guess is that people go through database leaks and test each email+password in the mojang website until they find a working pair. I always ask them what they think happened. I’ve had many players have these issues too. Or a skilled black hat hacker can get through with most stuff 🙂 I guarantee that 99.99999% accounts get hacked because they use a stupid password like a birth dateīad passwords, low security, easy passwords on email and whatnot. Minecraft account user age skews lower, so you're going to find a lot more kids falling for phishing and such. I have no evidence on this but I'm going to take a good guess: The first thing that came to my mind is that they played on some no premium server and that the admin saw their password with the auth plugin, but my friends told me they've never played on a no premium server so I have no clue on why this happens. How is this so common? Why does Mojang not fix this? How can users prevent this? I haven't seen this amount of stolen accounts on any other game. However, when it comes to Minecraft, I've seen dozens of users everywhere getting their accounts hacked and their names changed. I've never seen anyone getting his Facebook, Twitter or Steam account actually hacked.
